A Gas Safe registered engineer checks and tests the boiler as part of a boiler service. This makes sure that your boiler works well and efficiently. An engineer checks the right gas pressure and flows as part of a good boiler service. Aside from that, the flue and how the boiler burns are also looked at.

What Does a Boiler Service Cover?

When you call a Gas Safe registered engineer to take care of your boiler, he will:

Visual Inspection: First, your boiler will be checked by an engineer who is registered with Gas Safe. A rough estimate is that it will cost you approximately £100 to hire an engineer once a year. The technician will look at your boiler and how it works. This will help him make sure that all the parts work right.

During the visual inspection, the engineer will look for weak spots, leaks and corrosion harm. The engineer will also look at the boiler’s flame.

Removal of the Casing: Once the Gas Safe registered engineer is done looking at the boiler from the outside, he will remove the boiler’s casing. He will look at the boiler’s main parts to make sure they are working as they should. When the engineer takes off the case, he will do a few checks. Checking the heat exchanger, main injector, burner, and spark probe are some of these things.

Note: Never try to open the boiler’s case on your own. It can be risky.

Flue Check: The engineer will do this check to make sure that there are no blocks in the flue terminals. He will also check to see if the flue is safe. This will also help him check to see if there are any dangerous emissions.

Gas Pressure Check: The gas pressure helps a boiler work. So, the boiler must always have the right amount of gas pressure. If it doesn’t, the water won’t heat up as it should in the taps and radiators.

A Gas Safe registered engineer also would check the gas pressure in your boiler to make sure you don’t have any problems like this.

Boiler Started Up: This test lets the engineer see if there are any problems with the way the boiler works.

Reporting: After the engineer has looked at the boiler carefully and done all the necessary tests, he will leave you a report. With this report, you’ll be able to see if your boiler has any problems. Also, the report will tell you how to take care of your boiler so that it works well and efficiently.

Don’t forget to ask your engineer to look at your boiler. Give him the name of the company and the model. Not every engineer works on every kind of boiler. Even though this is rare, you should ask your engineer before you schedule the visit just to be safe.
