With rising energy costs, it is imperative to get the most out of your heating system. More and more people are looking for ways to save money on energy bills, and looking at how efficient their current boiler is, is a top priority. As well as reducing the need for an emergency heating engineer to fix your hot water supply and reducing your carbon footprint, a replacement boiler can be the cheapest long-term solution to reducing your energy bills.

So, how can a new boiler save you money?

There many ways a new boiler can save you money including:

Cutting Down Repairs

If you have an older boiler, you may already have experienced some expensive repairs. Most homeowners have at some point, and they can be expensive, especially if you are having to call a heating engineer more than once to fault find and complete repairs. A new boiler can help to minimise the need to do this as well as provide you with a long warranty.

Energy Savings

Energy savings are affected by both the age and efficiency of your current boiler. Energy savings that you see from your provider will be more effective with a new boiler. This is because a new boiler is more efficient overall.

Fewer Emergencies

Although you never know when an emergency can happen, you can minimise the risk of a boiler-related emergency with a new boiler. A new boiler usually means there is less chance you will be left without hot water and need to call an emergency heating engineer to visit.

When your hot water stops working, you’ll want the problem fixed right away. Some boiler issues are an emergency, meaning you’ll need to call a plumber immediately. Other problems are easily fixed yourself. When your hot water stops working, you can try fixing it with the following checks.

1. The power supply

The first thing you need to do is check your power. If there’s an issue with the power, the display on your boiler will no longer be showing. Perform a simple check by switching your lights on, to see if the power is on. Open up your fuse box and check for any tripped switches.

2. Take a look at the boiler

You’ll need to take a look at your boiler, to check for any issues. You might find an error code on the display or notice that the display is a different colour. The best thing to do is to reset your boiler. If resetting the boiler doesn’t work, you’ll need to contact a plumber.

3. See if the pilot light is on

The pilot light of the boiler should be ignited. If you can’t see the blue flame, you’ll need to try and switch it back on. Find the instruction manual for your boiler and follow the guidelines to do so.

4. Adjust the boiler pressure

When the pressure of a boiler drops below 1, the hot water may not work properly. Ensure that the pressure of the boiler is somewhere between 1 and 2. If not, you can follow your boiler manual instructions, to repressurise the boiler.

We all need an efficient heating and water system. If you can’t fix the problem yourself, you’ll need to contact a professional heating engineer.
