Replacing your boiler is costly. It isn’t as simple as replacing a radiator or a kettle. It is an expensive piece of equipment that has to be installed by qualified experts. But before you install a new boiler, you will need to consider the price and whether or not it definitely needs replacing.
However, this post will share with you how to know that your boiler definitely needs replacing.
- High-pitched whistling noises. If your boiler or radiators start to make high-pitched whistling noises, known as kettling, then this could be a clear sign that your boiler needs replacing. It could happen due to limescale or rust that is causing a blockage. Thus, the water is having a hard time getting through.
- Leaks. A leaking boiler system is a common sign that the boiler needs replacing. First, check that the pipework hasn’t come loose. If it has, then a simple repair could fix the issue. If not, then your boiler could be nearing the end of its lifecycle.
- Orange flames. Should your boiler start to show glowing orange or yellow flames, this could be a sign that your boiler is on its way out. Boiler flames should be blue in colour. Orange-coloured flames may cause carbon monoxide to release from the boiler, which is highly dangerous. Call a Gas Safe registered engineer immediately should you see an orange flame to prevent any safety issues.
