If your boiler has seen better days, it can be difficult to decide which boiler is the better option for your home. There are three main kinds of boiler, each of which will suit different needs.
Conventional Boilers
A conventional boiler heats the water and then stores it in a hot water tank until it’s needed. If you run out of stored hot water, you will have to wait for more to be heated and the tank to refill. Conventional boilers are best for bigger homes with multiple bathrooms or lots of radiators.
Combi-Boilers
A combi-boiler provides hot water from the mains on demand, with no need to connect to a storage tank.
All the main components are stored in one unit, so you don’t need a hot water tank, making these a good option for properties with not much space.
If you have a little more room for a boiler, you could pick a storage combi. These work like a combi boiler but have a hot water tank that will store any excess hot water for later.
System Boilers
System boilers supply hot water directly to a storage cylinder and to the radiators. The components are stored in one unit, which makes these boilers relatively easy to install and service. These boilers are ideal for properties which have than one bathroom or that need more hot water than a combi boiler can provide.
